Understanding the functional divergence of p73, a member of the p53 family of proteins.

Professor Daman Saluja is Director and Professor at Dr B. R. Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research (ACBR), University of Delhi, North Campus.

...

Saluja did her Ph.D. from the University of Delhi and has been associated with ACBR since 1997 as Reader, Professor and now Director. She secured the prestigious NSA Young Scientist Medal and LSS Kumar Memorial Award in 1989. On Technology Day in 2013, she was given the Biotech Product and Process Development and Commercialization Award. She has more than 95 international publications and has given several invited lectures at national and international conferences.

For the past ten years, Dr Saluja's group has been working on Sin3, a transcription regulator in eukaryotes where in they have established the differential role of Sin3 in p53 mediated gene regulation under genotoxic and non-genotoxic stress.

More recently, they have established a pivotal role of Sin3 protein in autophagy and life span and health span using C-elegans as a model system.

Currently her laboratory is looking into differential role of Sin3 in p53 and p73 mediated gene regulation.

In addition her lab has developed beacon based diagnostic assays for various diseases, some of which are underway to commercialization.
